Can I take the CCHI certification exams outside the United States?

CCHI now administers the CoreCHI™ written exam in two modalities: at a physical test center OR online. Eligible interpreters may therefore obtain CoreCHI certification from outside the United States.

However, CCHI does not offer the ETOE™ exam or CHI™ language-specific performance exams remotely due to the nature and specific parameters (e.g. audio capture, allowing note taking) of those exams. All candidates who need to take the ETOE™ exam or a CHI™ language-specific performance exam must do so at a physical test center of the Prometric network in the U.S. or Canada.

Where can I take the CHI oral exam in my state?

The  CHI™ exam is delivered at the testing centers administered by our testing vendor Prometric. De to the system upgrade, scheduling is not available until December 2019. You can search the available test centers at www.prometric.com/CCHI. If there is no test site within a reasonable distance, we apologize for the inconvenience. CCHI is continuously trying to expand its testing network. We welcome your suggestions about an organization in your locality (hospital, college or language agency) that may be interested in becoming a CCHI’s testing site, please contact us at apply@cchicertification.org with specific details whom we may contact at that organization.
