Agree and dismissThe purpose of the ETOE™ Scholarship is to promote the new CoreCHI-Performance™ certification. CCHI supports our CoreCHI™ certificants as they pursue a higher level of certification with the first performance credential for interpreters of all languages: CoreCHI-Performance™!
The purpose of the CoreCHI-Performance™ (CoreCHI-P™) certification is to offer healthcare interpreters of any language a valid national professional standard that assesses, in a monolingual format, their core professional knowledge and cognitive interpreting skills needed to perform the duties of the healthcare interpreter. Interpreters seeking the CoreCHI-P certification must pass two exams – the CoreCHI™ professional knowledge exam and the monolingual performance ETOE™ (English-to-English) exam, – and meet CCHI’s Language Proficiency for Interpreters eligibility requirements.
To learn more about the ETOE™ exam, visit https://cchicertification.org/certifications/preparing/etoe-description/.
The 2024 Fall Cycle scholarships are made possible thanks to the generous contribution from the HCIN (https://www.hcin.org/). We express our deep gratitude to Frank Puglisi, HCIN Executive Director, for being instrumental in providing the support.
The Health Care Interpreter Network (HCIN) is a mission‑driven, non-profit membership organization comprising dozens of hospitals and health systems nationwide. Their members share a commitment to eliminating barriers to care for patients with limited English proficiency (LEP) and those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, and to elevating the profession of healthcare interpreting. HCIN connects hospital-based interpreter programs in a ‘co-op’ sharing model. This model allows organizations to access highly qualified hospital-based medical interpreters from participating entities, at a relatively low cost. It also provides hospital language access programs with the means to maximize staff efficiencies and control cost and quality of interpreter services. Additionally, HCIN operates an online continuing education platform for professional interpreters HCIN Learn at https://www.hcinlearn.org/.
