Agree and dismissThe University of Houston Downtown (UHD) Department of History, Humanities, and Languages, in collaboration with the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI), will host the Language and Health Symposium on April 5, 2024. The Symposium will bring together faculty of various interpreting programs, interpreter educators from the private sector, and practitioners, managers of interpreting services, from across the U.S. Participants will discuss best practices in program development, innovative pedagogical approaches and research as well as delivery of culturally-competent health care for linguistically diverse patient populations.
The Symposium offers two concurrent tracks of 30-minute presentations on the following topics:
Attendee Registration: 9:30 – 10 am (outside Milam room)
Presentations: 10 am – 4:30 pm (Lunch on your own at 12:30-1:30 pm; cafeteria has Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks) See full Schedule here
CE credits: 3 CE hours (general) (CEAP ID #10388) (Certificate of attendance provided at the end of the day.)

Parking: $5 at the UH Downtown Visitor Parking Lot (201 Girard Street, Houston, TX 77002). OR: there are City lots around the campus also available.
